San Quentin SkunkWorks Announces Juan Haines as Special Advisor for the RighteousReview AI Initiative

San Quentin SkunkWorks proudly announces Juan Moreno Haines as the Special Advisor and the driving force behind the groundbreaking AI initiative, RighteousReview. SkunkWorks is developing the AI application to analyze trial transcripts for racial bias and sentencing disparities, marking a significant stride toward equitable justice.

 

Juan Moreno Haines, an acclaimed incarcerated journalist and an influential figure in prison reform, has been instrumental in conceptualizing and bringing the RighteousReview project to San Quentin SkunkWorks. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the nuances of the criminal justice system, shaped by over 27 years in the California prison system, position him uniquely to guide this initiative.

 

Haines’s commitment to revealing the often-overlooked realities of incarceration has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Society of Professional Journalists’ Silver Heart, accolades from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, and most recently a Media for a Just Society Award for his impactful reporting. As Editor-in-Chief of Solitary Watch, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to elevate crucial issues and foster meaningful dialogue.

 

RighteousReview, initiated by Juan Haines and developed by San Quentin SkunkWorks, symbolizes a transformative step in employing AI for social justice. This project aligns with our mission to innovate and effectuate reform in the criminal justice system.
