What Joshua does for San Quentin SkunkWorks:

As Chief Operations Officer, Joshua provides leadership for SkunkWorks operations, strategic planning, and goal performance. He helps to manage our programs, oversees implementation, and supports our personnel.

What motivates him:

As a justice-impacted person, Joshua knows that carceral conditions and the toxic culture of prisons must be improved to have a functional justice system. He views this as a practical matter of smart and cost-effective public policy to protect communities, reduce recidivism, and enhance public safety, but also a moral duty. He believes the system is ripe for innovation and an infusion of restorative justice principles.

When Joshua isn’t working to advance SkunkWorks mission:

He can be found enjoying the outdoors, practicing the art of running, and pursuing his numerous other interests.

Credentials:

Joshua brings a Master of Business Administration and a Ph.D. to the SkunkWorks executive team. Though his doctorate is focused on environmental restoration, Joshua also has a wealth of experience in the nonprofit sector and community development. In addition, he is an award-winning journalist and trained mediator well versed in the principles of restorative and transformative justice.
